ICT

Information, communication and digital technology shapes the whole world in which we live. It is becoming ever more present in our lives and the modern pupil needs to understand the devices and applications which are readily available. At Alderbrook, we have the equipment and the expertise to ensure that our pupils leave us with a sound understanding within this area of the curriculum.

We are well-resourced with iPads, laptops, interactive whiteboards and have a fabulous Mac computer suite.  On top of this, we are fortunate to have the support and expertise of the City Learning Centre (CLC) who are based on site and are available to support our staff or take lessons for our pupils to ensure they have the very best ICT curriculum available to them.

All pupils at our school are taught a discrete computing curriculum, as well as using ICT to support learning across all subjects. This engaging curriculum covers the key skills which the pupils will need to become digitally literate such as: coding and programming; manipulating photographs and film; blogging and app building. Every year, the pupils are lucky enough to work with experts from the CLC. We also offer a Coding club to year 5 and 6 pupils to enhance learning and engagement in coding and programming.

Ensuring that our pupils are safe using the internet is a key priority and E-safety is integral at our school. As well as being taught about the dangers of using the internet during our annual E-safety week, all pupils and staff follow a code of conduct for using technology appropriately.
